A Dolphin Encounter With Leah Lamb
Dolphins and the islands of Hawaii go hand and hand. If you Google “dolphins in Hawaii,” you’ll be shown a ton of links for swimming with dolphin tours and programs all over the islands. It’s not only about interacting with these amazing creatures, however. Conservation and research is key to understanding an important part of what makes dolphins tick. Organizations such as The Dolphin Institute are dedicated to studying dolphins and educating the general public to keep them safe and a wonderful part of Hawaii.
Leah Lamb had an encounter with Hawaii’s dolphin friends this morning, and she tweeted about dolphins swimming and making noise outside her room! She then met up with Nancy Sweatt, founder of Dolphin Journeys, an excursion program that allows you to swim with wild dolphins in their natural habitat in Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island. Dolphin Journeys isn’t only about the dolphins, however. You can find yourself on a whale watching tour, reef snorkel, sunset trip with manta stingrays, and more. Sweatt believes that encounters with dolphins can bring a spiritual aspect to anyone’s life, through interaction and play with these friendly mammals. We say thanks to Nancy Sweatt and all dolphin and other Hawaiian animals for their dedication to preserving wildlife and allowing people to bring them into their lives.
